Start and End Times of the Primary School Day

Dear Primary Parents,

We are delighted to have been able to welcome the Year 4, 5 and 6 children back to school this week, and we look forward to the Year 3 children joining us from Monday.

As a reminder, to ensure social distancing at the beginning and end of the school day, staggered start times were introduced from Wednesday 20th May. Children in different year groups now have differing start and end times to their day, and these are listed in the table below for your reference.

We are working hard to ensure that social distancing is adhered to once inside school, but it is extremely difficult to ensure this happens outside school if the children arrive before we are able to admit them onto the school campus. We understand that the children have been hugely excited to see each other at the start of every day, and that is great, but please can we ask that they do not congregate outside the school before their allocated start time. It is imperative that we maintain social distancing in order to keep the children safe and our school open. Please make sure your child arrives at school at the time of their entry.

I have been so impressed with how the children have adapted to the new routines and approaches we have introduced in order to reopen classes. We are extremely grateful to you too, for being so thorough in taking and recording the children’s temperature before school and sending them in with their completed forms. This has really helped us get the children into classes quickly and efficiently every morning.

As you are aware, we have had to limit many of our usual activities in order to get approval to reopen the school for full days. Please may I remind you that we have asked that children do not bring into school with them:
  • Pencil cases
  • Football, basketballs or balls and toys of any kind
Sadly, as eating arrangements are key to our permission to remain open, no birthday cakes or sweets are allowed at this time either. You will be pleased to hear that there is no limit on singing so I can assure you that children with birthdays to celebrate will still have the pleasure of hearing their class sing them Happy Birthday!
We have been so proud of our students this week. They have been considerate, careful with their masks and patient when learning the new routines around the school. We are super proud of them and look forward to seeing them all again on Monday.

In the meantime, we wish you a restful weekend ahead.

Kind Regards,

Susan Walter.
