Dear Parents
It has been wonderful to welcome your children back into school this week and see them settle so quickly back into their learning. We have really enjoyed seeing the children access their outdoor environments across the phase through outdoor learning opportunities, woodwork and forest sessions. This week, I was privileged to join some of our EY1 children in their Learning Technologies lessons and see the wonderful opportunities they have to explore, create and enquire when working in our Learning Technologies Lab on the main campus. We pride ourselves in the Early Years of understanding that children show and demonstrate their learning in many different ways therefore to see such a wealth of opportunities available to the children even with the current restrictions has just been fantastic.
This week we have petitioned the EdB to allow us to open our Nursery and Reception classes for full days, however at this stage the response has been that the mandatory stipulation of half days for all kindergartens across Hong Kong remains in place. We will continue to work on our plans behind the scenes in the hope that we will be able to re-open our Nursery and Reception classes for full days as soon as possible. In the meantime, we will continue to evaluate and develop our provision to ensure the children get the very best out of their time in school and through the online home learning in the afternoons. I would like to thank parents for being mindful of the children’s health by keeping children off school when they present with symptoms such as runny noses, coughs and temperatures. A kind reminder that if your child is absent from school that you need to contact the school office at [email protected] to notify us that your child is absent from school.
