‘Angels for Children’ Charity to visit Year 3 – 26th October.

Dear Year 3 Families,

As with many International Schools, DBIS promotes the UN Global Goals for Sustainable Development within its curriculum.

As part of Year 3’s Discovery unit ‘Significant People,’ the children have been learning about Goal 10 – Reducing Inequality. Over the past few weeks, they have discovered many people who made a change to society in this respect. The next step of our unit is to think about how the students are significant to others and help to reduce inequality too.

In connection with this, a representative from the charity ‘Angels for Children’ will visit the school on 26th October. The charity works to support disadvantaged children here in Hong Kong. Their talk will be delivered in an honest but age-appropriate way. Importantly, the children will be invited to think about how they can make a difference. The charity is in need of stationery and Year 3 will be designing fundraising events to help purchase stationery kits. The strategy for how we do this will be student led but facilitated by the teachers and undertaken at school. Watch this space!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.

We look forward to guiding the children’s charitable actions and seeing what impact they can have.

Many thanks for your support,
The Year 3 Teaching Team.
