Celebration of the Class of 2022’s Examination Results

Dear DBIS students and families,
I am delighted to write to you all to celebrate our Class of 2022’s excellent A Level and BTEC Level 3 results. It is crystal clear from the fact that 18% of our students’ A Level grades were an A* and 44% of all their grades were an A* or A that our incredible students have continued our trend of achieving outstanding results. Furthermore, 67% of the DBIS Class of 2022’s grades ranged from A* to B. These achievements are a strong testament to the dedication and focus of our students, as well as the tailored direction and assistance from our highly qualified teachers.
Mr Stuart Bridge, our Head of School, was extremely impressed by our students’ results, commenting: “Everyone at DBIS is absolutely thrilled with our students’ results this year. Their successes visibly demonstrate the commitment and hard work of each of our students alongside the significant support of their teachers at Discovery Bay International School. We are justly delighted for one and all!”
There are so many individual successes amongst our students, with over 45% of our students gaining the equivalent of A, A, B or better and many students achieving grades which were even stronger than this. They have gained places at highly respected universities around the world on the back of their brilliant results. I have shared just a few of our students’ individual successes below.
This summer, Chloe Monteil-Thang was awarded three A* grades in Biology, English Literature and Media. She will go on to read English at McGill University. Rebecca Tilbrook will be heading off to Bristol University, where she will read Biomedical Science after also gaining three A* grades. Her top grades were in Biology, Chemistry and Geography. Akshat Dagdi achieved a grade A in all four of the A Levels that he sat, which were Maths, Physics, Business and Design & Technology. Akshat will be attending Loughborough University, where he will be studying Automotive Engineering. Christie Tse will be reading Architecture at Hong Kong University (HKU) after achieving A* grades in Maths as well as Physics, in addition to her grade A in Art. Moa Alkaas is another student who will be continuing her studies in Hong Kong as she will be reading Computer Science and AI at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), having been awarded an A* in Computer Science as well as A grades in both Maths and Physics. Roy Nagar was awarded an A* grade in both Psychology and Physical Education, as well as an A grade in Business, and will go on to read Business at GBSB Global Business School in Barcelona. Lucie Destexhe will be reading Medicine at the University of St Andrews after achieving an A grade in both A Level Maths and Chemistry as well as a B grade in Biology. Her twin sister Rebecca Destexhe was awarded A grades in both Geography and Physical Education alongside a B grade in Psychology; she will be going to Heriot-Watt University, where she will read Psychology.
Other students have earned places to study at a wide range of excellent universities around the world to read degrees which include Archaeology, Sociology, English, Industrial Design, Physical Geography, Psychology, Design and Media Communication, Music, Environmental Science and Sport and Exercise Science.
Congratulations to the Class of 2022. You have done yourselves, your families and the entire DBIS community very proud indeed.
