EY1 Online Learning

Dear EY1 Families,

We are all disappointed to be going online, but we will all strive to ensure that the children continue to learn and progress through our online learning programme. This letter outlines some important details about our EY1 online learning that begins on Friday 14th January.

Friday 14th January

Friday 14th January will begin with a whole-class Google Meet at 10.15am where we will model how the children will use Seesaw throughout this period of online learning. The link for this will be communicated through our ‘Virtual Classroom’, which can be located in the ‘Activities’ section of Seesaw from 5pm on Thursday 13th January. During this ‘live’ session, we will also explain the children’s Seesaw learning engagements for the day. They will then have time to complete their activities and we will then meet again, online, via the same link at 2.30pm.

We kindly ask that you ensure that the children use their DBIS login information when accessing their Google Meets. We will not be admitting non-DBIS accounts into our live online sessions.

From Monday 17th January

From Monday 17th January onwards, we will begin our full EY1 online learning programme. Please see the links to your child’s online learning timetable below. Please note the colour coding that highlights which sessions are live, whole-class and small-group sessions. The sessions highlighted yellow will be introduced by your child’s class teacher and be accessed via the ‘Google Meet’ link on the daily Virtual Classroom.

Class Timetables:

Please click the link below for class timetables and RWI groups. Please note that the children have been placed in small-group RWI sessions to allow them receive the support they need, and therefore these groups will not be able to be changed.

Snow Leopard Class

Sea Otter Class

Tiger Class

Cheetah Class

Following the online sessions, your child will be directed to a learning challenge that can be located by clicking on the relevant subject link on the Virtual Classroom. The activities will have a short introduction from one of the EY1 teachers to help further support your child. Following the live introduction, either the class teacher or EA will be available online for if your child has any queries about their learning.

Our Virtual Classrooms that outline each day’s learning will be available on Seesaw from 5pm the day before. Monday’s will be available from 5pm on the previous Friday.

Reading book and Home Learning pack information

To support the children’s online learning, your child will be given two reading books and a resource pack for the following week’s learning. These will be given out outside the gates of the main campus from 12.00–1pm every Monday afternoon. We kindly ask that all reading books are then returned the following Monday at the same time. Any uncollected packs will be available at the office.

If you would prefer to collect these resources from Tung Chung, please let your class teacher know. Mrs Dauz will be available every Monday from 3pm–3.15pm in the main Tung Chung square, near Starbucks (between the bus station and MTR station), to distribute these packs. When collecting your child’s resources, please show your child’s pick up card to Mrs Dauz. Again, we kindly ask that all reading books are returned to Mrs. Dauz at this time.

We thank you all for your support during this time. Please do not hesitate to contact your class teacher should you have any concerns or questions.

Best wishes,

The EY1 Team
