EY2 Online Learning Information

Dear EY2 Families,

Although we all share the disappointment of going online again, we are confident that the children will be provided with every opportunity for them to continue progressing with their learning through our EY2 online learning programme. This letter outlines some important details about our EY2 online learning from Friday 14th January.

Friday 14th January

Friday will begin with a whole-class Google Meet at 10am where we will model how the children will use Seesaw throughout this period of online learning. The Google Meet link for this session will be communicated through the activity called ‘Virtual Classroom – Friday 14th January’, which can be located in the ‘Activities’ section of Seesaw from 5pm on Thursday 13th January. During this ‘live’ session, we will also explain the children’s Seesaw learning engagements for the day. They will then have time to complete their activities and we will then meet together again, online, via the same link at 2.45pm. The activities for Friday 14th January will be available from 10am that day, after we have shown them to the children during the Google Meet.

We kindly ask that you ensure the children use their DBIS login information when accessing their Google Meets. We will not be admitting non-DBIS accounts into our live online sessions. Please can everyone join each live session on time, with their microphones turned off. Microphones should only be turned on when directed by a teacher.

From Monday 17th January

From Monday 17th January onwards, we will begin our full EY2 online learning programme. Please see the links to your child’s online learning timetable below. You will also receive a hard copy of this on Thursday 13th January. Please note the colour coding that highlights which sessions are live, whole-class and small-group sessions. The sessions highlighted in yellow will be introduced by your child’s class teacher, with the exception of Tuesday’s assembly, which will have a separate link communicated.

Class Timetables:

Pangolin Class

Kakapo Class

White Rhino Class

Panda Class

Please note that the children have been placed in small-group RWI sessions to allow them to receive the phonics support they need, and therefore these groups will not be able to be changed. Please familiarise yourself with your child’s RWI lesson time, which is shown on slide two of the links above. To ensure these sessions run to time, please ensure your child clicks on their RWI lesson link at their correct time. If they arrive earlier than their specified time, they will be asked to leave and join again later.

Following the online lesson introductions, your child will be directed to a learning challenge that can be located by clicking on the relevant subject link on the Virtual Classroom. The activities will have a short introduction from one of the EY2 teachers to help further support your child. Following the live introduction, either the class teacher or EA will then be available online if your child has any queries about their learning.

Our Virtual Classrooms will outline each day’s learning and will be available on Seesaw from 5pm the day before. Monday’s Virtual Classroom will be available from 5pm on the previous Friday.

Reading book and resource pack information

To support the children’s online learning, your child will be given two reading books and a resource pack for the following week’s learning. These will be given out outside the gates of the main campus from 12.00–1pm every Monday afternoon. We kindly ask that all reading books are then returned the following Monday at the same time. The resources in the pack are to support the children with their Seesaw challenges during the week, so we kindly ask that they don’t complete these activities before they have had their online introduction from their class teacher.

If you would prefer to collect these resources from Tung Chung, please let your class teacher know. Mrs Yeo will be available every Monday from 3pm–3.15pm in the main Tung Chung square, near Starbucks (between the bus station and MTR station), to distribute these packs. When collecting your child’s resources, please show your child’s pick up card to Mrs Yeo. Again, we kindly ask that all reading books are returned to Mrs Yeo at this time.

We look forward to welcoming all our EY2 children to our online programme at 10am on Friday 14th January, via Google Meet. In the meantime, if you have any queries about any of the above, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.

Kind regards,

The EY2 Team
