EY2 Term 2 Welcome Letter

Dear EY2 Parents,

Happy New Year! We hope you have had a restful and fun-filled break and we look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Monday 9th January 2023.

Key Dates

Please continue to check the DBIS key dates here:https://hub.dbis.edu.hk/

Reading & Spelling

New reading books will come home with the children in Week 1. Please read these books over the week with your child and return them to school on your allocated day. This a gentle reminder that if you do not return the reading diary and book each week, we cannot provide your child with a new book. To further support reading and writing at home, you may wish to use the following RWI sound mat, which covers Set 1, 2 & 3 sounds: Set 1, 2 & 3 sounds

Spelling books with new spelling rules for Term 2 will be sent home with your child in Week 1. Please return these before Friday 24th March.

EY2 are very excited to invite families into their classrooms on Friday 13th January for an Open Morning. Parents will be invited to accompany their children into the classroom to share their morning routine with them. Please find more information here.

Communication

It is extremely important to all the EY2 teachers that we maintain a positive home-school partnership. All school communication can be found via DBIS Parent Hub and classroom communication boards, so please keep checking all the communications regularly. Should you wish to discuss your child’s learning or any sensitive issues in greater detail, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher or Mrs Georgina Clothier (EY2 Year Group Leader) to arrange a meeting at a mutually agreed time. If you wish to use email, then please send any communication for the attention of the appropriate teacher through the school office: [email protected] You can also use the messaging function on Seesaw to directly message your class teacher, these will be responded to within 24 hours during the school week.

The School Day

Our classroom doors open from 8.25am each morning, please show your child’s temperature & RAT card to the teacher at the door before your child enters the classroom. We expect children to independently come into the classroom, put their belongings away and begin their learning. The school day will finish for EY2 children at 3.10pm. Masks must be worn at all times when entering the school campus. EY2 families can enter campus via the main school gate, please remember to present your Vaccination Pass and bring your Parent ID Card or Pick Up Card with you for pick up time. Any parents and carers without a Parent ID card or Pick Up Card will be required to sign children out from the main office. Please use the following jot form to register for a Parent ID Card https://www.jotform.com/221250028107441
