Dear Parents / Guardians,
I’d like to introduce myself as an English teacher and Year 7 tutor at DBIS. I am enthused to be starting at such a lovely school and look forward to meeting all of the students.
I have been in Hong Kong for eight years, having spent seven of those as an English teacher at ESF’s South Island School. Prior to this I completed my Teach First teacher training at the University of Canterbury and taught for two years in London. Hong Kong students are very special and I have high expectations of all of the students I teach; I want them to experience pride and self-satisfaction through knowing that they performed to the best of their ability. I am a very supportive and approachable teacher and I hope my students will vouch for this. In terms of English, enlightening students to become avid readers and to appreciate the value of developing strong written and oral communication skills is of utmost importance to me.
My academic background is in English Language but I am also passionate about literature and particularly enjoy fantasy and sci-fi genres (read: Game of Thrones). As well as teaching English, I am a fully qualified dance teacher and look forward to choreographing the school shows and developing the dance offering at DBIS.
