Massage in Schools Programme

Dear Parents

Following the success of the Massage in Schools Program Parent Workshop and staff training we will be providing the children in EYFS with the wonderful opportunity to experience the ‘Massage in Schools Programme’.

The Massage in Schools Programme is an inclusive programme of positive touch and clothed peer massage through an approach which nurtures children’s health and well being. It originated in Sweden in 2000 and is now being used by schools all over the world and is especially popular in the UK.

Research shows that when children practice peer massage they become calmer, develop their concentration and become more confident. They learn to respect themselves and other children. The massage involves the back, head and arms and lasts for around fifteen minutes. Each child gives permission for a massage to take place. If the children do not want to give or receive a massage they can say no, knowing that their choice is respected.
