Nursery and Reception School Resumption Letter

Dear Nursery and Reception Families,

We are delighted to be welcoming back all our Nursery and Reception children earlier than planned on Thursday 28th April.

I would like to provide further information with regards to the children’s return to school. Your child’s Year Group Leader will be placing information on Seesaw (and copy this to the Hub) that is specific to their year group later today.

Full-day, Face-to-face Resumption

We will revert to our regular timetable, which the children followed in Term 1. This will include all specialist lessons (with the exception of PE which will begin on Tuesday 3rd May) and experiential learning opportunities such as Forest School and woodwork. Class teachers will communicate your child’s individual timetable.

Please find below the start and end times which will begin from Thursday 28th April:

Year Group Start time Finish time
Nursery 8.55am 2.40pm
Reception 8.45am  2.30pm

Parents are kindly reminded that conditions for entry onto the campus for students have been updated by the EdB and are as follows:

  • All students must conduct a COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) each morning before arriving at school. Students who have contracted COVID-19 (and informed the government) will not be required to test for three months after recovery.
  • You do not need to show us proof of a negative result each morning, but we do ask that the daily tests are conducted and that you complete the Jotform HERE before your child returns to school to confirm that you have acknowledged the new EdB protocols. Your child will receive an updated temperature card where you can acknowledge that the test has been completed each morning.
  • Parents will be responsible for purchasing RAT kits for their children – the school will not be able to provide RAT kits for students.
  • Anyone who tests positive must inform the school by 9am on the day of testing, using the form HERE, and should follow government guidelines.
  • Parents should take their children’s temperatures each morning before leaving for school and record them on the temperature record card. At the school gate, the children’s temperatures will be taken again before they go to their classrooms.

Tung Chung Bus

The Tung Chung bus will begin operating again from Thursday 28th April. Information regarding the service will be communicated directly to relevant families.

Entry and Exit to the Campus

As detailed previously, the government requires that all adults who enter any of our campuses must be able to provide proof of vaccination status. You are required to scan the Leave Home Safe app before joining the line to enter either campus and show proof of successful scanning (which will also show your vaccination status if you are using the most up-to-date version of the app). If you do not have your vaccination record stored in the app, you will need to bring a paper copy to show evidence of your vaccination status. At the gate, your temperature will be taken before you can enter the campus.

Entry and Exit Points

Year Group Entry Point Gates Open Exit Point Gates Open
Nursery EY carpark 8.50am Front gate to the EY campus 2.35pm
Reception EY carpark 8.40am Front gate to the EY campus 2.25pm

We kindly ask that you do not arrive earlier than your scheduled time in order to avoid crowding. Classroom doors will not open until the start of the school day. Tung Chung children will be supervised once they get off the bus at the Early Years campus. Your support is much appreciated with this to avoid large gatherings at our entrance. At the end of the school day, we request that you leave the campus promptly as the campus will be closed for deep cleaning each day.

Snacks and Lunches

We will continue to provide healthy snack options for our Nursery and Reception children. These will be eaten at a designated time in the morning within the children’s class bubbles. The children will also continue to have lunch in class bubbles. The children will need to bring their lunch to school in the morning, and it will be stored in an air conditioned room before they eat.

Please note, we are not able to receive lunch deliveries at any of our DBIS campuses.

Pick Up Cards

Please remember that the person collecting your child will need to show the pick up card. If your child is going to be picked up by someone that is not on your designated list, please ensure your child’s teacher is aware of the arrangements and that a pick up card is given to that person when they collect your child. If you require new pick up cards or the names of those on your designated list have changed, please inform your child’s class teacher as soon as possible so we can update our records and provide you with new pick up cards if they have been lost.

Responding to COVID-19 Cases

As has been communicated previously, if 5% or more of all staff and students report new positive cases on the same day, or if 10% or more of students in one class report new positive cases on the same day, the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) will consider whether there is a need to suspend classes. The CHP may allow schools with sporadic cases to continue classes with proper anti-epidemic measures in place.

In the case of class suspension, classes will temporarily revert to online learning where possible.

We are so excited to welcome the children back to school tomorrow but understand some children may need a little longer to emotionally prepare for their return to school. With this in mind, the planned pre-recorded learning opportunities and activities will be available on Seesaw for your child to access for the remainder of this week. Please note, there will be no live online learning opportunities from Thursday 28th April and the home learning programme (including activities packs) will be discontinued from Tuesday 3rd May.

Thank you for your continued support, flexibility and understanding throughout this exceptionally challenging period for our Early Years families. Please do not hesitate to get in touch should you have any questions.

Best wishes,

Hannah Tait
