Nursery: Term 2 Updates

Dear Nursery Families,

We hope you have had a wonderful school break and enjoyed the festive season. We are very much looking forward to welcoming back all our Nursery friends on Monday 3rd January. Please return your child’s Chatter Tube with any holiday updates to support our class discussion during our first week back.

Sharing the Planet

As we begin a new school term, we will begin our new conceptual unit, ‘Sharing the Planet’. Within this unit of enquiry, children will explore how we share our planet with people, plants and animals that all grow and change. They will explore how we have a role to play and a responsibility to take care of and appreciate our planet.

To support the children’s learning, we would like to request that you share three photographs: one baby photograph, one toddler photograph and one recent photograph. This will support the children with sharing their experiences and discussing how they have changed. We kindly ask that you send these photographs through Seesaw to your child’s class teacher.

Parent Support

We will place parent volunteer sign-ups on our class communication boards for Term 2. We would like to invite parents to come into class to discuss their occupations or hobbies and interests that support our next conceptual unit of learning. We will continue to have Mystery Reader sign-ups and celebrations that may arise during this next term, such as Chinese New Year. In line with school safeguarding procedures, you must complete the DBIS code of conduct before coming into class here: https://form.jotform.com/80089065515963. As well as current guidelines from the Centre for Health Protection & the Education Bureau, all volunteers must show proof of full vaccination.

Supervision before & after school

We would like to remind all adults who are dropping off or collecting students that they must be actively supervised before and after school. Thank you for your continued support with this.

Pick Up Cards

A gentle reminder that all adults collecting students from school must show their child’s pick up card. If any agreed pick up adults have changed, please inform your child’s class teacher. If a different adult is collecting your child, you will need to inform the school in advance through Ms Angel at  [email protected], and they will also need to display the pick up card.

If anyone comes to collect your child and they do not have the pick up card, they will have to go to the school office to sign your child out, even if they are on the ‘regular’ pick up list.

Library Books:

A gentle reminder to Nursery families that if you would like to borrow a library book at home, you can send your request via the link https://hub.dbis.edu.hk/bulletin/borrowing-books-from-the-early-years-library/

Communication:

Please continue to regularly visit the DBIS Parent Hub and read the school bulletins, as important information and Nursery updates will be posted there. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to your class teacher.

We look forward to another term of joy, wonder and childhood!
