Dear Parents,
Â
This is a reminder that there are a number of students with severe nut allergies within our student body.
Â
The allergies are so severe that any contact with nuts or nut oil will lead to an instant anaphylactic reaction requiring emergency medical intervention.
Â
To ensure the safety of these children at school, we request your cooperation to maintain a safe nut free environment. Â Please ensure the absence of nut or nut containing products at school including:
- School premise in snack, lunch or after school snacksÂ
- Birthday celebration food
- Shared lunch
- Field trips
- Camp
- Sports practice
This includes Nutella, fruit and nut bars, chocolate bars, pesto, moon cakes and items cooked in nut oil (some pretzels) etc.
Â
Please read packaging labels very carefully and discuss this with your helper or anyone else who may be involved in the preparation of your child’s lunch and/or snacks that may be brought to school.
Â
If possible, please avoid eating nut products before school. If this is unavoidable, please ensure your child washes his/her hands thoroughly with soap and water.
Please do not hesitate to discuss this with us if you have any questions.
Â
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
