Nut-Free School

Dear Parents and Students,

This is a reminder that there are a number of students and staff with severe nut allergies within our school body.

In some cases the allergic response is so severe that any contact with nuts or nut oil will lead to an instant life-threatening condition called anaphylaxis, requiring emergency medical intervention.

To promote the safety of the school body, we request your cooperation to maintain a safe nut-free environment. Please ensure the absence of nut or nut-containing products at school including:
Snacks, lunch and after school snacks;
Birthday celebration food;
Shared lunch;
Field trips;
Camp;
Sports practice.
This includes Nutella and other nut-based spreads, fruit and nut bars, chocolate bars, pesto, moon cakes and items cooked in nut oil (some pretzels) etc.

Please read packaging labels very carefully and discuss this with your helper or anyone else who may be involved in the preparation of your child’s lunch and/or snacks that may be brought to school.

If possible, please avoid eating nut products before school. If this is unavoidable, please ensure your child washes his/her hands thoroughly with soap and water.

Please do not hesitate to discuss this with us if you have any questions.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
