Primary Library Summer Lending Programme UPDATE: Library will close 2pm Friday.

3rd June 2019

Dear Parents

DBIS Library – SUMMER LENDING PROGRAMME

In a bid to reduce summer reading loss (the decline in children's reading development that can occur during summer vacation times when children are away from the classroom), the library is pleased to announce details of a Summer Lending programme:

  • Parents of primary school students will be able to borrow up to 10 library books per family for the duration of the Summer break
  • Lending will take place in the final week of school, between Monday 24th June and Friday 28th June, after which the library will be closed until school resumes in August.
  • Parents can visit the library with their child/children from 8:00am to 8:25am and from 3:15pm to 4:00pm.
  • This program is available to families with children confirmed to be returning to DBIS for the 2019-20 school year and who do not have any outstanding loans.
  • All items borrowed under the Summer Lending programme must be returned to the library no later than Friday 16th August.
  • Under no circumstances will primary students be able to borrow unless accompanied by a parent/guardian or designated carer. If a designated carer is to borrow books under the family account, parents are asked to write the name of the accompanying adult on the attached form to present to library staff.
  • Parents/guardians accept that if any book is damaged or lost over the course of the Summer, they are eligible for the replacement cost plus a $30 administrative fee per book.

Please note, that in order to give staff the opportunity to take stock of the library collection prior to the start of our Summer Lending programme, all lending will be suspended between Monday 17th June and Friday 21st June.

Feel free to contact the library should you have any questions.
