Reception- return to full day schedule

Reception Term 3- Return to full days

Reception Full Days Timetable Term 3 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

Due to the approval from the EDB and CHP, we are extremely excited to be able to offer a full Reception school day.

The Reception school day:

Our  Reception school day will run from 8:55am – 2:40pm. We have attached your child’s timetable and will also send you this via seesaw, so please have a look when specialist sessions such as PE and Forest School will take place.

Reception drop off and pick up times:

To support social distancing and reduced congregation in shared areas, classroom doors will open for drop-off between 8:55am-9:00am. Likewise at the end of the Reception day the gates will be open to collect your children between 2:40-2:45pm. Once your child has been collected we kindly ask that you leave the campus swiftly to avoid overcrowding.

Morning Tea and Lunches:

During our morning Discovery time (10:00-10:45am) your child will have the opportunity to have a snack. Morning Tea is provided by school, we will be providing fresh fruit and vegetables alongside a choice of a breadstick, cracker or rice cake.

Reception lunch will take place from 12:10-12:30pm  in the dining hall or EY hall. We kindly request that children bring in their own lunch at the start of the school day and place it in the boxes provided. Please ensure your child can open their own lunch box independently and portion sizes are appropriate for the designated eating time.  Please also be aware that we are a Nut Aware school and we kindly ask that no products containing nuts are brought onto the school premises. In line with our healthy eating policy, we request that your child’s lunch box does not include sweets and chocolate.

Hats,  Water Bottles and Wellington / Gum Boots:

Due to the climate in Hong Kong, it is very important that children wear sun-hats when outside and drink lots of water throughout the day.  Therefore, we ask that every child brings a clearly labelled hat and water bottle to school. Bottles will be sent home daily and if needed when at school, children will be encouraged to refill them from the water fountain. We send home hats to be washed termly or on request, so please let us know if you would like to take it home. We also ask that a spare set of uniform, underwear and socks clearly labeled with your child’s name is kept in their school bag in case of accidents or exuberant water play.

PE and Forest School Days

On PE (Physical Education) days, the children must wear the DBIS PE outfit, white socks and running shoes. Your child may also wear their PE kit on their Forest School day if they wish. As Reception students have multiple opportunities to explore outside learning areas it is useful to apply sunscreen and insect repellent before school. We will reapply sunscreen and insect repellent as necessary, if you do not wish for your child to use the provided sunscreen or insect repellent please speak to your child’s class teacher.

Birthdays:

We like to celebrate each child’s special day. Unfortunately, due to the restrictions we cannot currently accept cakes or treats into the classroom unless they are individually packaged. If you do choose to send individually wrapped treats, please make sure they are nut free and small in size.  We will do our utmost to ensure your child has a wonderful and memorable day full of birthday celebrations!

Library Books:

If you would like to borrow a library book for the week, please send your request via the link https://hub.dbis.edu.hk/bulletin/borrowing-books-from-the-early-years-library/

Education Bureau (EDB) and Centre for Health Protection (CHP) regulations:

To ensure the safety of the Reception children and the Reception Team we will continue to align with the policies from the EDB and CHP. Therefore it is essential that all children at school wear masks at all times on campus (other than designated snacks or drinking water). We kindly request that all masks are clearly labeled with your child’s name and spare masks are kept in their school bag. Your child’s temperature is to be taken and recorded prior to school arrival. Temperature cards will be checked on the gate as you enter the EY campus and temperatures will be taken at the gate as you enter. We will continue to support children with washing and sanitizing their hands throughout the school day.

It is a very exciting time and we thoroughly look forward to our full day return! Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. Thank you for your support and we look forward to getting back into the joy and excitement of a full school day next week.

Your class timetable will be sent to you via Seesaw so please check your inbox.

Kind regards,

The Reception Team
