Reception – Week Commencing 24th October

Dear Reception Families,

What an excellent first half-term of learning we have had. The children have settled so well into their classes, and a real sense of belonging has developed across the Reception cohort. It’s incredible to think of everything they have achieved in just two months of school!

Please find a few reminders below about the half-term ahead:

Library

We are excited to announce that children will begin to borrow a book to take home during their library sessions. Home borrowing will begin week commencing Monday 31st October. Please see the attached timetable for your child’s library day. To borrow a book, all children must have a library folder. We kindly ask that you send in an A4 or A3 named zip folder. Please note, this is an additional folder to the one you have previously sent in for home reading books. To protect the condition of our library books, children will only be able to borrow a book if they bring a folder to school.

Diwali Celebrations

On Monday 24th October, we will be celebrating Diwali at DBIS. To mark this special celebration, all students from Early Years, Primary and Secondary are welcome to come to school in traditional dress or bright colours to celebrate. This is completely optional, and should students prefer to wear their school uniform on that day, they are most welcome. Please get in touch with your class teacher if you celebrate Diwali and wish to share any traditions with your child’s class.

Finally, we would like to thank you for your continued support this half-term. We hope you have a lovely and restful mid-term holiday!

Kind regards,

The Reception Team
