Dear All,
We are rotating our facility use for PE after the half-term break.
Students in Secondary will have lessons in the pool as well as lessons on the pitch. Students in Years 7–11 have three PE lessons every 10 days. Pool sessions have been timetabled so that every class has either one or two swimming lessons per cycle for the first four weeks (Monday 24th October – Friday 18th November). From Monday 21st November until the end of term, those who had previously two pool sessions will swap with the groups that had one.
Students in Years 12 and 13 will have the option to do aquatic activities as part of a games, fitness and health unit.
Our pool is outdoor and heated, and our changing rooms have heating as well. Students are encouraged to bring their DBIS hoodie or DBIS jacket to wear after their session and to keep their hair relatively dry by using a swimming cap.
Compulsory items for pool sessions are listed below:
- Swim suit *
- Rash vest *
- House swimming cap *
- Goggles
- Towel(s)
- DBIS hoodie/jacket *
Students may also wish to wear lightweight shorts in the pool.
On all PE days, students should wear their PE kit to school for the entire day.
Should a student need to be excused from a pool session for any reason, we must receive a note or an email from a parent/guardian explaining the reasons for non-participation. The respective PE teacher emails can be found below.
Please also see below for when classes will be using the pool for the first four weeks. Students will also be informed of this on their PE Google Classrooms, and the pool timetable is on the student noticeboard by the pitch. A further communication will be sent out regarding sessions from Monday 21st November – Friday 16th December in due course.
