Secondary Sports Day – Monday 11th March 2024

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am delighted to announce the date of the Secondary School Sports Day.

Date: Monday 11th March 2024

Location: Kwai Chung Sports Ground

Parents are very welcome to attend. The events start at 9.15am, and we hope to finish at 2.55pm. This should allow us to return to school for 3.30pm. Please note students will be bussed to the venue and should arrive at school for a normal school day arrival time. This travel will be from the Main Campus, and Sixth Form students should also be present at this site from 8am.

There will be three age group categories: U13 (Years 7 & 8), U15 (Years 9 & 10) and Senior (Years 11–13).

Our focus for the day is to celebrate progress, commitment, effort and success. There will be individual medals awarded throughout the day before the main presentation of the house trophy, which will be awarded to the house that accumulates the most points across all three age categories. All participants contribute towards this cause.

Coaches have been arranged to transport the students to the sports ground. All students should arrive at school by 8am wearing their full school PE kit. Students will then register with their form tutor before departing for Kwai Chung Sports Ground at 8.30am. Parents wishing to attend the event should travel independently.

A reminder that school PE tops and shorts are available for purchase at the uniform shop. No DBIS Hammerheads T-shirts or alternative sportswear should be worn.

What to bring:

  • Reusable water bottle
  • Healthy snacks and packed lunch; students will not be allowed to leave the sports ground during the day, and deliveries of food are prohibited
  • Sunscreen
  • Hat
  • Suitable running shoes/sports trainers
  • Work/revision (optional)

In the event of cancellation due to poor weather, as much notice as possible will be given.

A programme of events will be made available to spectators on the day and will also be shared with students. Please note students will use form time on Wednesday 28th February to sign up for their events. Attendance at sports day and competing in an event is compulsory

On the day, there will be a large shaded area in the grandstand for parents to sit and watch; it is requested that parents remain in these areas and avoid the track and field.
