The Hair Raiser

Dear Parents,

Our Year 10 students have initiated a fundraising campaign in support of one of our DBIS families – the Mastroianni family.

In order to support Luigi Mastroianni’s medical bills for ongoing cancer treatment and to ensure that our hairiest students are able to feel a breeze in the summer heat, we have decided to launch The Hair Raiser, whereby donations will be collected to support our student volunteers in shaving their heads.

The campaign will launch on Tuesday 3rd May, with student sign-up sheets being distributed in form times; although the campaign began with our Year 10 students, we are opening this up to students in other year groups who also wish to shave their heads in support of the Mastroiannis… we are hoping that some teachers may do this too!

The Hair Raiser team will be collecting donations from students during form times during the week commencing Tuesday 10th May, and students are welcome to collect donations from family and friends at home and also bring these into school.

Unfortunately, due to restrictions, we aren’t able to shave our students’ hair on school grounds, so we will encourage them to do this at home during the weekend of the 14th and 15th May. Guidance will be sent round to any students involved but will require many photos being taken and a video.

I hope you’re looking forward to watching the final celebratory video as much as we are, and we appreciate your support, as always.

Thank you,

The Hair Raiser team
