Update for Secondary learning from Monday 11th January (5 January)

Dear Parents of Secondary DBIS students,

I am writing to you to follow up on Stuart Bridge’s email about the continued suspension of onsite learning until Chinese New Year. As a school we are very disappointed that Nursery and Reception will continue to be suspended for all face to face learning. However, on a more positive note there has been a little increase in the flexibility available to DBIS by the Education Bureau (EdB) which allows us to have small numbers of students from across the rest of the school on site for some of their lessons. The EdB is allowing us to run two half-day sessions of classes each day, for up to one-sixth of the school’s total capacity (excluding Nursery and Reception) from Monday 11th January. As the primary phase is only able to accommodate morning sessions, the secondary phase will use the afternoon for in school sessions. We have made changes to the structure of the day to enable students to have three lessons in school on the days that they can come into school, whilst still finishing at the typical time of 3:20 pm. All secondary students will have their tutor time, period 1 and period 2 lessons online. Please refer to the table below for the timings of the day.

Days when each group of students are able to attend some in school lessons

To enable all of the secondary students to come into school, whilst following the Education Bureau directive, we will bring in different Year groups on alternate days, for part of the day, as shown below.

  • On odd-numbered days of the two-week cycle (Day 1, Day 3, Day 5, Day 7, Day 9),Years 7, 10, 11 and 13 will come into school for periods 3, 4 and 5 .
  • On even-numbered days of the two-week cycle (Day 2, Day 4, Day 6, Day 8, Day 10), Years 8, 9, 12 and 13 will come into school for periods 3, 4 and 5.

For clarification, please note that Monday 11th January is Day 1 and the days continue sequentially from there (i.e. Tuesday 12th January is Day 2, Wednesday 13th January is Day 3, … , and Friday 22nd January is Day 10 before it loops back to Day 1 on Monday 25th January)

* Please note that we are able to bring in our Year 13 students every day.
