Welcome to Term 2 in Year 4 2022–23

Dear Parents,

Welcome back! We hope you and your children had a wonderful and restful break together after an action-packed Term 1 learning through our first three units of inquiry: Learning to Learn, Body & Mind, and Visual Representation.

We are now embarking on Term 2, which looks set to be as equally busy and fun filled as the last Term.

In Discovery this term, the children will be addressing the question, ‘How can we use resources respectfully?’ In line with this, in English, we will be looking at ‘Belonging’ by Jeannie Baker, a story with no words that shows how a neighbourhood embraces nature over time. We will also be developing our non-fiction writing skills by writing, producing and filming our very own David Attenborough documentary about a native Hong Kong animal!

For further details regarding the ‘Can We Save The World?’ Discovery unit as well as an overview of the whole curriculum for this term, please read the Term 2 Parent Overview on the Hub. This overview provides a summary of what your child will be learning this term.

Please ensure you continue to discuss your child’s learning with them. Much of their work is recorded on Seesaw, and the children are always so delighted when you like or comment on their learning.

The Primary Student Councillors will be ‘Pointing out the Positives’ each week and they would love your help in supporting children wearing the correct uniform to school. For more information, please see the additional Hub notice that went out before Christmas or check the school website for the uniform policy.

Year 4 Celebration of Learning – Friday 17th March

On Friday 17th March, we will have a Celebration of Learning in Year 4. This will be showcasing the children’s understanding from Term 2, especially related to our ‘Can We Save The World?’ Discovery unit.

Thank you for continuing to engage with your child’s learning; they have been very enthusiastic about sharing their learning from Term 1, especially showcasing their artwork for you in the Year 4 Art Gallery in December.

This will be a fantastic Term full of learning for Year 4. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.

Best wishes for 2022,

The Year 4 Team
