Y6 Immunisation Clinic – 17 June 2020

Dear Parents of Year 6 students,

The School Immunisation Team of the Centre of Health Protection will visit our school on

17 June 2020 to provide the Hepatitis B immunisation and Combined Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) immunisation to eligible Year 6 students. The Hepatitis B vaccine (HBV) is recommended for students who have never received a Hepatitis B vaccine or who have not completed three doses of HBV on schedule. The government immunisation team will give one dose on the above-mentioned date. A referral form for the second and third doses, if required, will be provided during the clinic.

Combined Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR) immunisation will also be offered to eligible Year 6 students.  Immunisation is recommended for students who have never received the MMR vaccine or who have only received one dose of the MMR vaccine after the age of one.  Please review the attached conditions with which students the MMR vaccine is contraindicated.

Please carefully review and sign the attached consent or refusal form and return it with the child’s original immunisation records to the Health and First Aid Coordinators in the Medical Room before 12 June.  The government immunisation team will also check the immunisation records of our students for any history of BCG vaccine, the vaccination for tuberculosis (TB). Those students under 15 years without a history of BCG vaccination will be referred to the Chest Clinic for further management. If you have any queries, please contact the School Immunisation Team at 2615 8567.

Please note that these vaccines are a parental option. Although our Health and First Aid Coordinators support our students, some students who are fearful may feel more comfortable with an individual visit to their family doctor.

If a new consent or refusal form is required please email [email protected].
