Update -Early Years 1 & 2 Junior Sports Morning – Friday 28th April

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Our Early Years 1 and 2 students are currently honing their skills and looking forward to competing in their annual Discovery Bay International School Junior Sports Morning. We wish to extend a warm invitation to all parents, friends and families to come along and support our students on the day.

Our Junior Sports Morning will be held on Friday 28th April and will include a number of activities. We will be splitting up the Early Years 1 and Early Years 2 year groups to make it easier for the children to move from activity to activity and to make it less congested for parent spectators, so please familiarise yourself with the structure below.

The Early Year 1 Sports Morning will run as follows:

  • 8:25 am: Children register in class as usual
  • 8:30 am: Early Years 1 parents to congregate in the Early Years 1 & 2 undercover area
  • 8:45 am: Students begin their activities
  • 10 am: Children return to the classrooms for a snack, a cold drink and fresh fruit. We would like to welcome parents into class at this time as teachers will then lead the presentation of Participation Certificates to the children.

We kindly ask that parents remain in the classrooms with the children to avoid congestion on the playground during break time

  • 10.15 am: End of Early Year 1 Sports Day, farewell to parents and children return to their normal lessons

The Early Year 2 Sports Morning will run as follows:

  • 8:25 am: Children register in class as usual
  • 10:15 am: Early Years 2 parents to congregate in the Early Years 1 & 2 under-covered area
  • 10:30 am: Students begin their activities
  • 11:45 am: Children return to the classrooms for a snack/lunch, a cold drink and fresh fruit. We would like to welcome parents into class at this time as teachers will then lead the presentation of Participation Certificates to the children.

We kindly ask that parents remain in the classrooms with the children to avoid congestion on the playground during lunchtime

  • 12 pm: End of Early Year 2 Sports Day, farewell to parents

All students should arrive at school in their PE kit, wear a hat and have a full water bottle. The children love taking part in these events, and as we continue to encourage the development of their independent skills, please can we remind parents of the importance of letting the children participate in their activities independently of adult help.
