Year 3 Music lessons in Term 3- Recorder Karate

Dear Parents,

Year 3 Recorder Karate

In advance of the start of Term 3 we would like to inform you that students in Year 3 will be embarking on a new journey of learning to play the recorder. We will be using the ‘Recorder Karate’ series as a guide and exploring new notes and a variety of different pieces over the term.

In addition to learning how to play selected notes on the recorder, students will be developing their music notation reading skills, as well as their knowledge and understanding of rhythms and playing as part of an ensemble.

Although we do have one class set of recorders to use throughout the topic, we would prefer to keep these as spares. In the interest of personal hygeine we recommend that you purchase a recorder that is for your child’s use only. The class sets we have at school will be thoroughly disinfected after each music lesson ready for the following week.

Recorders are available to purchase from the DBIS School Shop at a cost of $30.

Please ensure that your child’s recorder is clearly labelled and cleaned thoroughly each week after use.

We hope this will be the start of an exciting new adventure to inspire students in learning a woodwind instrument, or indeed any orchestral instrument in the future. We look forward to seeing your child developing their music skills each week.

Yours Sincerely,
Scott Welcomme, Kaytie Harding, Daniela Poon & Gill Bredbury
