Year 5 Hong Kong Walking Tour Trip

Dear Parents, 

I am pleased to inform you that Year 5 will be going on a walking tour around Central and Admiralty:

Y5BW – Friday 9th December

Y5CG – Monday 12th December

Y5RE – Wednesday 14th December

The purpose of the trip is to give the children the opportunity to learn more about the history of key buildings in Hong Kong and develop a deeper appreciation for how Hong Kong Island has changed over the years. The children then apply this learning in school, before showcasing their understanding in a Celebration of Learning before the Lunar New Year. The walking tour will be led by an experienced guide from Walk Hong Kong.

Each class will depart from school on their respective days after registration at 8.30am, in order to board the 9.10am ferry to Central. The children will then be taken to the General Post Office, where the tour will commence. The children will have their snacks and lunch on the trip. We kindly ask that the children bring their snacks and lunch with them as there will not be an opportunity to purchase refreshments on the day. Year 5 will board the 2.10pm ferry back to Discovery Bay in time for ECAs and buses.

What to wear: Regular school uniform
What to bring: Hat, umbrella/coat, packed lunch, snack, Octopus card for the ferry

There are no vaccination requirements for this trip.

We would welcome parent volunteers to support this trip and are aiming for three volunteers per class. Please contact your child’s class teacher if you are interested in joining us.

The cost for the walking tour for each child is HK$100 to be paid by cash, cheque or bank transfer. In addition to this, the children will need their Octopus cards for the Discovery Bay ferry ($46 for a return trip). 

All cheques should be made payable to ‘Discovery Bay International School Ltd.’

Online bank transfer is also accepted provided that the transfer slip and student information are emailed to the accounts office ([email protected]) for reconciliation purposes.
