Year 8 – Welcome to Term 3

Dear Parent and Guardians,

Welcome to term three. This term has already got off to a great start with the Y6/Y8 buddy meet on Friday 21st April where students celebrated book day. Students brought in their favourite books and read extracts from their books to each other. They also dressed up for the occasion based upon their favourite characters. It was wonderful to see the engagement, excitement and leadership displayed by the Year 8’s to their Year 6 buddies.

At the end of May is the Year 8 Week without walls in Saikung from Wednesday May 31st to June 2nd which will be a great opportunity for students to develop their team work and leadership skills through activities such as learning about water filtration and orienteering. There will be more information to follow regarding Week Without Walls.

I will be submitting students Green bird award forms to Award for Young People (AYP) Headquarters on Friday May 5th so they will be able to receive their certificates before the end of term. Thank you for all your support throughout the year regarding this.

Finally, I am organising a trip for all Year 8 students in June to visit the UNESCO Global Geo Park in Sai Kung where students will learn about Hong Kong’s geological heritage. More details to follow in May.
