Primary and Early Years Online Learning

Thank you for all your support in these challenging times.  It has been fantastic to see so many of our Early Years and Primary children accessing their online learning.  Please remember if you need any assistance with this please free to contact your child’s class teacher via Seesaw, or for technical help, contact our IT help desk,  [email protected].

It is important to balance your child’s online learning with outdoor activities and ensure children are taking ample ‘brain breaks’. A daily schedule which balances online learning opportunities and outdoor/indoor breaks creates the necessary structure children are familiar with.  Please do not feel compelled to finish all the activities, it is about making the children’s learning meaningful and manageable.  If a maths task has been set, for example in Primary, it should take no longer than 45 minutes to an hour to complete. Likewise in Early Years, activities should take between 10 – 25 minutes dependent on the age of the child.  As you will be aware we are trying to cover curriculum content that would have been taught in school, yet ensuring this is manageable is key. Our team of teachers are continually placing feedback on Seesaw and Google Classroom, and are there to support you and your child if you have any questions. If you would like to speak to your teacher please use the message function on Seesaw for this.

In times like this, it is important to stop and think about how you are doing and how this affects your child.  For this reason, we are advising our teams to ensure that time is made for all children on Friday to complete tasks already set, and to enjoy a break from technology-based learning to either have a ‘Catch-Up Friday’ or ‘Fresh-Air Friday’. Fridays can also be used for addressing feedback or adding reflections. Please also see the attached pamphlet by the Child Development Team here in Hong Kong on supporting you and your child through a health crisis. (LINK)

Wherever ever you may be right now we would like you to know that we are thinking of you all and are here if you need anything.

Best wishes,
