All Early Years (Nursery,  Reception, Early Years 1, Early Years 2) and Primary Year 3 lessons will take place online until Sunday 6th December at the direction of the Education Bureau and the Centre for Health Protection.

The three Primary classes (Year 4 – 6) that were suspended earlier this month returned to School on Wednesday 25th November.

Class Resumption Plan

I am very pleased to announce that The Education Bureau (EDB) has approved our Class Resumption Plan and we can begin to resume classes as of Wednesday 16th September, 2020. The COVID-19 outbreak has meant our school community has had to spend an extended period apart and we have had a unique beginning to our school year. We are all incredibly thankful that our school community can come back together and move forward collectively. 

Continued suspension of in-school secondary lessons

Update on the suspension to in school lessons for secondary students on the back of the Education Bureau guidelines.

Year 7 to 10 students will have online learning for the first week of the new term. We are working on the assumption that they will return to school from Monday 11th January.

Students in Years 11 – 13 will return to school on Monday 4th January for their lessons before lunch in accordance with the Education Bureau guidance.

EY1 – Magic Words Program

Dear Parents and Carers,

 In EY1 we follow a high frequency word programme called ‘Magic Words’.  There are 100 frequently occurring words in the English language that make up, on average, half of the words found in reading and writing.  The Magic Words literacy activities and games promote instant recognition of these words.  Mastering half the words used in reading and writing makes the task of reading and writing ‘magically’ easier.

EY1 Junk Modelling Materials

Dear Parents and Carers,

Next week the EY1 children will be beginning Play Projects.  Play Projects is an approach to the curriculum created by Greg Bottrill, author of “Can I Go And Play Now” which allows each child to lead their own learning by creating their own play project. A very warm welcome to you all, to EY1. It has been such a pleasure getting to know your children over the last two days. The children have certainly embraced Google Meets and Home Learning. 

On Monday 17th August, we will begin RWI (Read, Write, Inc). Read Write Inc (RWI) is a phonics complete literacy programme which helps all children learn to read fluently and at speed so they can focus on developing their skills in comprehension, vocabulary and spelling (https://www.ruthmiskin.com/en/).

Google have a facility to allow parents to receive an email summary of their child’s activities in their Google Classrooms.  This will allow parents in Year 3 upwards to see what work is set in the Classrooms and their child’s posts.

Support for Year 9 Students during Class Suspension – Update

Information to Year 9 Parents about support for students during class suspension

Suspension of in-school classes for Early Years, Primary and Years 7 to 11 from Wed 2nd Dec

Dear Parents

As announced over the weekend in the press and confirmed by the Education Bureau, in-class lessons for schools will be suspended with effect from Wednesday 2nd December.  We will therefore be reverting to online learning for Years 4 to 11 on Wednesday for the remainder of the school term.  Similarly, our Early Years and Year 3 classes will continue with online learning until 11 December and will not return to school as previously planned.

There are mock examinations currently underway for Years 12 and 13 and these will be allowed to run as planned on campus this week.

We have been running our electronic sign-in system, InVentry, for staff for several months and our sixth form students have been signing in and out of the Sixth Form campus with their students cards since they have returned to school.
