Dear Parents

All Early Years (Nursery,  Reception, Early Years 1, Early Years 2) and Primary Year 3 lessons will take place online until Sunday 6th December at the direction of the Education Bureau and the Centre for Health Protection.

The three Primary classes (Year 4 – 6) that were suspended earlier this month returned to School on Wednesday 25th November.

I am very pleased to announce that The Education Bureau (EDB) has approved our Class Resumption Plan and we can begin to resume classes as of Wednesday 16th September, 2020. The COVID-19 outbreak has meant our school community has had to spend an extended period apart and we have had a unique beginning to our school year. We are all incredibly thankful that our school community can come back together and move forward collectively.

Continued suspension of in-school secondary lessons

Update on the suspension to in school lessons for secondary students on the back of the Education Bureau guidelines.

Year 7 to 10 students will have online learning for the first week of the new term. We are working on the assumption that they will return to school from Monday 11th January.

Students in Years 11 – 13 will return to school on Monday 4th January for their lessons before lunch in accordance with the Education Bureau guidance.

EY1 – Magic Words Program

Dear Parents and Carers,

 In EY1 we follow a high frequency word programme called ‘Magic Words’.  There are 100 frequently occurring words in the English language that make up, on average, half of the words found in reading and writing.  The Magic Words literacy activities and games promote instant recognition of these words.  Mastering half the words used in reading and writing makes the task of reading and writing ‘magically’ easier.

Suspension of in-school classes for Early Years, Primary and Years 7 to 11 from Wed 2nd Dec

Dear Parents

As announced over the weekend in the press and confirmed by the Education Bureau, in-class lessons for schools will be suspended with effect from Wednesday 2nd December.  We will therefore be reverting to online learning for Years 4 to 11 on Wednesday for the remainder of the school term.  Similarly, our Early Years and Year 3 classes will continue with online learning until 11 December and will not return to school as previously planned.

There are mock examinations currently underway for Years 12 and 13 and these will be allowed to run as planned on campus this week.

We are aware that Discovery College is closing for two days from tomorrow as a parent of one of their students has tested positive for COVID-19.  Our understanding is that the individual runs a local studio in Discovery Bay and we are following up to see if any of our school community may have attended classes at ‘The Beat.’

Timings of Last Day for Primary

Please be reminded that the school day will finish for Year 3 to 6 students at 12:30 pm on Friday 25th June. The children will not be eating lunch on that day, so you may want to consider giving them an additional, or slightly larger snack that day.

Travel History and Health Status Declaration Form required
