Year 12 – Post Study Leave Plans and updated Booklist

Dear Parents,

The period of Year 12 study leave for all students finished today and we are excited to have students back in the classrooms with us! There are still formal external exams and internal assessments continuing for Year 12 until 4th June and for these external exams students still have study leave.

For all Year 12 students we now expect them to return to all of their lessons and resume a normal half day schedule, including Learning for Life, core PE and assembly periods.  For subjects that still have upcoming exams or internal assessments, teachers will be working on revision tasks and preparation for those with students.  For subjects where exams and internal assessments are completed teachers will be starting Year 13 content with students and this will continue for all subjects until the end of term.  In Learning for Life lessons students will begin the process of completing applications and paperwork for university and college as some deadlines are as early as September and October for some institutions.  Therefore it is very important that Year 12 students are now in attendance according to their normal half day schedule.

For students studying 4 subjects, we strongly advise that they wait until the release of their examination results in August to make final decisions on which subject they may want to continue to A2 with or drop at AS.  If students ‘drop’ the subject now but then decide in August that they would prefer to continue the subject they will have missed up to 6 weeks of Year 13 content and this would put them at a huge disadvantage at the start of Year 13.

Looking ahead to Year 13 please find below the updated book list for Sixth Form students.  Any books marked as AS/A Level will be used by all students studying the course, while A Level texts are used in Year 13 only.  If you have any questions or queries about which books to purchase please email the subject teacher directly who will be able to help you.
