Dear DBIS Families,Â
Due to the red rain signal and resulting school closure on Thursday 14th September, we will reschedule our magical ‘Bedtime Stories’ event.Â
We have quite a number of events and fixtures that are already scheduled in our school calendar, and therefore it is unfortunately not possible to relocate this event to another date after school.Â
This will now be an in-school event, taking place on Friday 20th October for all students from FS-1 through to Year 6. On this day, students can come into school in their pyjamas if they would like to.Â
We know that many of our students were really excited to come into school in their pyjamas and listen to stories, and our school council representatives from last year were also extremely keen to have a ‘Pyjama Day’ at school. Therefore, we are thrilled that we can make this happen for our children.Â
Not only will the students share their love of stories throughout the day in the comfort of their pyjamas, but they will engage in exciting reading activities that will celebrate our passion for books and literature. Some of these opportunities will include:
- Experiential reading opportunities, where we will take the children’s love of books out of the classroom;
- The children will be served hot chocolate and cookies as they are read to by mystery readers;
- Reading with our buddy classes;
- We would love parents to come and read to the children. More details on this will follow!
- We will be raising money for ‘Bring me a Book Hong Kong’.Â
And much more!Â
We will share more details about this day nearer the time, as we continue to share our love and passion for reading with the students.Â
Best wishes,Â
Bryony Wilson and Gina Clothier
