Welcome Back – Year 7 Term 2 Bulletin

Dear Parents and Guardians of Year 7,

Welcome back to Term 2!  I hope that the break gave you the opportunity to connect with family and friends and for the students to relax and reflect on their first full term in DBIS Secondary.

Their first term has seen an enormous range of opportunities and growth across the year group, including, but not limited to, Year 7’s victory in the sustainable fashion show, the huge amount of house points they have earned for their respective houses, taking on the challenge of new subjects and teachers, and their resilience, good-humour and engagement during Week Without Walls.  It has also been a pleasure to watch them gain in independence and develop their skills of organisation as the academic year has progressed, and the Year 7 team were delighted to see the students return to school this week, refreshed and ready for another busy and exciting term.

I am writing to highlight some key dates for your diary for the coming term, starting with our Chinese New Year celebrations at the end of this month.

I would also like to draw your attention to two important documents which are linked into this message.  The Secondary Parent Handbook contains a great deal of useful information about day-to-day areas of school life and can be referred to throughout the year.

In addition, further information on individual subject areas can be found in our Year 7-9 Curriculum Handbook

I hope that you will find these useful guides to refer to.

As ever, please do not hesitate to get in touch with myself or your child’s tutor if you have any questions or concerns.

Best wishes,

Louise Tyrrell

Head of Year 7
