Year 3 – Active Planet Hike

Dear Parents and Guardians,

‘Active Planet’ Concept Walk – a hike to explore Earth’s processes…. on our doorstep!

As part of our learning about the Earth’s landforms and processes, Year 3 will hike to explore the local environment as an entry point to spark curiosity for our new unit of Discovery. It will provide a firm foundation for the academic content of the unit and links beautifully with our first key text, The Pebble in My Pocket, by Meredith Hopper.

The hike will be within Discovery Bay and is free of charge. We will ascend to the pagoda area using the stairs near the school. Please indicate you allow your child to attend via this jotform

Dates:
Tuesday 29th April: 3AR and 3SS
Wednesday 30th April: 3MB and 3BW

Logistics:
Please send your child to school in their PE kit for a prompt 8.25am registration on the day. Please ensure they have a small backpack containing;
– extra water
– hat, bug spray, sunscreen
– packed snack (a slightly larger snack than normal)
– spare socks
– grippy trainers or hiking shoes

The class teachers would love to welcome two parent volunteers per class to assist us on the hike. If you are interested in joining, please indicate this on the jotform, and your child’s teacher will be in touch.

We look forward to an exciting and curiosity-inducing hike! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.

Year 3 teaching team.
