IT End of Year & Summer Updates: Action Required

Please remember to backup your files and return your laptop before you leave for the summer holidays.

To ensure no loss of important data, it is critical that you back up all files stored on your desktop or local folders to your Google Drive. This includes any important student work (e.g., Year 10 GCSE and Year 12 A Level work) that may be on any machine around the school. Please ensure this is completed by the end of term.

Similarly, if you use browser shortcuts or bookmarks on Chrome, Firefox, or any other browser that you wish to retain, please ensure you back these up as well.

Laptop Collection for Upgrades
This year, we will be collecting all DBIS issued staff/teacher laptops (Windows and MacBook) for essential upgrades and maintenance.

Please return your laptop to the IT Department before the end of term (27th June).

The only exceptions to this collection are by prior arrangement and approval from the IT Director. If your Head of Department believes you require an exemption for specific work over the summer, ask them to submit a request to [email protected], clearly stating the reason for the exemption.

Please ensure you have backed up all of your files from the laptop to Google Drive before returning your laptop, as these machines will be wiped and re-imaged during the upgrade process, and files will not be restored.

The IT Team is, as always, very happy to assist anyone who needs help with backing up their data. Please contact us at [email protected].

Thank you for your cooperation.
