2025/2026 Swimming Squad Trials

Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am happy to announce that we will be hosting our annual swim trials at the beginning of the 2025–26 academic year. If your child is interested in joining one of the DBIS swim squads, please fill out the Jotform below by Wednesday 20th August, 10am.  Please see the DBIS sport website to find out more about the DBIS swim programme.

Please note that there are key skills/distances that need to be met to gain a place in a swim squad. If your child is not currently at or close to this level, please don’t enter them for the trial. 
Primary Swim Development and Swim Squad Trials 
Date: Tuesday 26th August
Time: 3.20pm – 5pm
Location: DBIS Pool
What to Wear/Bring:
– DBIS Swimming Kit
– DBIS Swimming Cap
– Goggles
– Towel
– Water Bottle
Key Primary Squad Skills/Expectations 
– Swim at least 3 of the 4 strokes with good technique
– Dive entry
– Tumble turn
– x2 race starts and finishes with correct technique
– 200m swim
– Positive behaviour and attitude
Students currently in the Swim Development Team do not need to sign up for these trials. Assessments will take place within their training sessions, and progression to the Primary Swim Squad will be made if the students have reached the correct level.
Students in Year 2 are not able to sign up to trial, but can be recognised within their PE swimming lessons and invited to the development squad.
Secondary Swim Squad Trials 
Date: Wednesday 27th August
Time: 3.20pm – 5pm
Location: DBIS Pool
What to Wear/Bring:
– DBIS Swimming Kit
– DBIS Swimming Cap
– Goggles
– Towel
– Water Bottle
Key Secondary Squad Skills/Expectations 
– Swim at least 4 strokes with good technique
– Sling/race dive entry
– Tumble turn
– x4 race starts and finishes with correct technique
– 400m swim
– Positive behaviour and attitude
At both the Primary and Secondary trials, students will participate in a warm-up, skill practice and timed races. If you have any questions, please email [email protected].
