Dear DBIS Families,
We’re excited to announce that our annual DBIS Book Day will take place on Friday, September 19th, and our Bedtime Stories event is scheduled for the afternoon before, on Thursday, September 18th.
We have many exciting activities planned for students, including a “Booknic” on the pitch, reading with our buddy classes, a Readers’ Theatre competition, and mystery book deliveries! We can’t wait to continue fostering a love of literature and reading at DBIS.
Thursday, September 18th: Bedtime Stories
The magic of storytelling will come to life at this special after-school event for all Foundation Stage and Primary students. Children are invited to wear their pyjamas and bring their favourite teddy bear or a cosy blanket. Cookies will be served as they listen to stories in their classrooms. Siblings are welcome to join one another in their classrooms.Â
- FS1 & FS2
- Time: 4:20 pm – 4:40 pm
- Details: Parents and family members must accompany their children to this event and stay to enjoy the stories together.Â
- Years 1 – 6
- Time: 5:00 pm – 5:30 pm
- Details: Students who have a signed Jotform for unaccompanied arrival and dismissal will be dismissed as usual after the stories. All other students must be dropped off and picked up by a designated adult. We encourage parents and family members to stay and share in their child’s love of reading.Â
Friday, September 19th: Book Day!
On Friday, all students are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. Students are also encouraged to bring the book their character is from to share with their classmates and buddy classes.
A friendly reminder that the library is open daily for families from 8:00 am – 8:20 am and 3:20 pm – 4:00 pm if you need to borrow a favourite book to share.
If you have any questions about Book Day or Bedtime Stories, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.
Best wishes,
Bryony Wilson
