Dear Families,
We will be celebrating Diwali across the EYFS, Primary and Secondary phases of the school on Friday 17th October, with the children being encouraged to wear traditional dress or bright colours to celebrate the Hindu Festival of Lights. We kindly request that families help us maintain this spirit of respect by ensuring that children do not wear costumes (such as fictional characters or non-traditional/inaccurate outfits) as a substitute for respectful cultural attire or bright clothing.
During the day, henna will be offered as an option for all children to enjoy for a small charitable donation of HK$10. The donation will be equally distributed to our four house charities: ImpactHK, Plastic Free Seas, Save the Children and The Cancer Research Foundation.
Historically, we have been fortunate to have parental support to help support the Diwali celebrations, including creating rangoli patterns for display and offering henna designs for the Primary and Secondary children during lunchtime.
The approximate time for support would be 12pm – 2pm, with lunch provided for our volunteers. If you are interested in supporting this special celebration, please contact Ruth Brislen-Patel at [email protected].
We are looking forward to celebrating with your children.
Best wishes,
DBIS
