Primary FOBISIA – Expression of Interest

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

The FOBISIA Friendly Games are competitions encompassing both individual activities and team sports. They have a long-standing reputation for being the most popular events in the FOBISIA calendar and offer students a fantastic opportunity to compete at the highest levels. At the same time, they provide an opportunity for our students to form global friendships with peers from across the region.

This academic year’s Under 11 FOBISIA Games will take place at Pattana Sports Resort, Thailand, from 13th to 17th May 2026. The Games are a multi-sport competition for boys and girls in Years 5 and 6. Students attending will compete in swimming, athletics (track and field), football and T-ball.

A team of 20 boys and 20 girls will be selected to represent DBIS at this prestigious event. Selected students will be required to attend training sessions leading up to the competition. A fee will be payable for the trip which includes the costs of flights, accommodation, food and participation.

Selection Criteria

The selection of students will be based on various criteria to ensure that we have the best representatives for our school.

  • Students who display excellent behaviour and engagement in school and their communities will be considered for selection.

  • Academic achievement in Physical Education will also play a significant role, with a focus on students who have performed above expected levels in PE lessons.

  • Performance in team sports such as football and T-ball and in individual sports such as athletics and swimming will be taken into account. Additionally, performances in school sports competitions, sports days and Primary swim meets/trials will be considered when selecting students for the team.

Additional Opportunities

In the run-up to selection, we will also be putting on additional competitions and assessments, allowing all students to be involved in more sports. All students within Years 5 and 6 will be involved in T-ball and football competitions and will be assessed in multiple track and field (athletics) events. This will take place within extended PE lessons during the three weeks after the Christmas break.
