Upcoming Term 2 Trips in Year 1

Dear Year 1 Families,

In Year 1, we have some exciting events scheduled for Term 2. Please see the information below regarding our two upcoming trips:

Trip 1:

On Thursday 22nd January 22 2026, Year 1 will watch the stage performance of The Gruffalo’s Child. This will be held at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in Wan Chai.

The show will begin at 12pm. The children will eat their lunch after the show at the theatre before returning to DBIS. Therefore, ALL children will need a packed lunch on this day.

The cost of the trip will be HK$450 per child, which includes the show ticket and the transportation for your child.

Trip 2:

After Christmas, our new Discovery unit will be ‘Let’s Build Structures’. We will explore different structures in Hong Kong and compare them to those from around the world.

Year 1 will embark on a bus trip and picnic on Hong Kong Island on Monday 9th February 2026 to explore the exciting structures in our very own Hong Kong. We will be travelling from DBIS to the AIA Wheel and will be ticking off well-known structures that we spot on our journey. We will then walk to Tamar Park for a picnic and continue to develop our observational skills by sketching the structures around us before returning to school.

The cost of the trip will be HK$70 per child.

The full payment of $520 (for both trips) must be made by Monday 5th January 2026 for your child to attend. Please submit payments of cash or cheque (payable to Discovery Bay International School) to the main office. If you wish to pay via bank transfer, please use the following details:

A/C Name: Discovery Bay International School Limited

Bank: The Hongkong Shanghai Banking Corp Ltd

Bank address: 1 Queen’s Road Central, Hong Kong

Bank Code: 004

Account number: 111-459624-001

Swift code: HSBCHKHHHKH

Please email a bank slip/transaction number for reconciliation purposes to [email protected].

More information will follow regarding these trips.

We will require some parent helpers to support us with both exciting trips. A parent sign-up sheet will be made available by your class teacher closer to the time. If an ample number of parents volunteer, then names will be chosen from a hat.

If you have any further questions, please contact myself or your class teacher.

Many thanks,

Miss Grella
