Dear Parents and Guardians,
Happy New Year and welcome back! We hope you and your children had a wonderful and restful break together after an action-packed Term 1.
We are now embarking on Term 2, which looks set to be equally as busy and fun filled as the last term.
In Discovery this term, the children will be addressing the question ‘What makes someone an artist, and how can we explore different art forms to express our creativity?’ as part of our ‘Inspiring Artists’ unit. In line with this, in English, we will be looking at: Colours Colours Everywhere, I Believe In Unicorns, Katie and the British Artists and Katie and the Sunflowers. The children will also start the unit ‘Fantastic Firsts’, where they will be addressing the question ‘What are some important ‘firsts’ in our lives and in history? How can we use our creativity to invent and innovate like the great inventors of the past?’ In line with this, in English, we will be looking at: Leonora Bolt: Secret Inventor, See Inside Inventions and Just Like Rube Goldberg.Â
Please continue to discuss your child’s learning with them. Much of their work is recorded on Seesaw.
With regard to homework, we will be continuing with our regular system and schedule of:
- All spelling homework is sent home on a Friday to be completed the following Friday.Â
- Reading each night. Children are to record the title of their book and the pages that they read in their diaries on a daily basis. Please can you, as parents, sign this too.
