Dear Parents and Guardians,
Year 5 ‘Challenge of Water’ Trip
I am pleased to inform you that Year 5 will be going on a school trip to the Crossroads Foundation on Wednesday 11th September (Y5SM and Y5TS) and Thursday 12th September (Y5CD and Y5CG). Children will leave school at approximately 9am and leave Crossroads at 1pm, after eating lunch.
This trip links to both our Discovery Unit, ‘Full Power’, and to our English unit linked to the book The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind.
For the trip, the students will be visiting the Crossroads Foundation in Tuen Mun to take part in a simulation which brings to life the burden of gathering water shouldered by the millions of people in the world who lack access to clean water. They will also be given the opportunity to consider solutions to help to address this issue. They will show themselves to be collaborative learners as they are tasked with different challenges during the simulation.
On the day, we ask children to come to school wearing their PE kit. Please apply sunscreen and mosquito repellent before school. Children will need to bring:
- A snack and packed lunch
- A hat
- A water bottle
- LA light rain jacket
