‘Active Planet’ Concept Walk – A hike to explore Earth’s processes… on our doorstep!

Dear Parents,

As part of our learning about the Earth’s landforms and processes, Year 3 will hike and explore the local environment. This will give the children an opportunity to transfer their learning from the classroom to real-life examples of landforms, rock, soil types, weathering, erosion and deposition.

The hike will be within Discovery Bay, using the stairs near school and ascending to the pagoda area. We will register the children at school as normal and depart shortly after 8.30am to avoid the main heat of the day. We anticipate returning to school around 10.30am. The class schedule is as follows:

3JH and 3TS Wednesday 18th May.
3HG and 3AR Thursday 19th May.

Please send your child to school for a prompt 8.25am registration on the day and ensure they have a bag containing:

  • extra water
  • a hat
  • bug spray
  • sunscreen
  • spare socks
  • a good snack
  • grippy trainers or hiking shoes

Students may wear their PE kit for the day.

Class teachers would love to welcome some parent volunteers to assist us on the hike. Should you be interested in joining, please get in touch with your child’s teacher.

We look forward to an exciting, challenging and informative hike! Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
