Book Week 2023

Dear DBIS Families,

We are excited to announce that DBIS Book Week will take place from Monday 11th to Friday 15th September 2023. The theme this year is ‘Readers Become Leaders’.

Please note some key dates and information below about Book Week’s exciting activities and events.

Readathon

A Readthon is a fundraising event in which students read in return for donations of money from sponsors. This year the DBIS Book Week Readathon will raise money for the charity Bring Me a Book Hong Kong.

Your child can raise money in any way they wish. They may choose to be sponsored by the number of books they share with their family, how many books they read independently, or how many minutes/hours they spend reading. For example, if someone sponsors your child HK$10 for every book they read and your child reads 10 books, your sponsor will donate HK$100. Sponsors can also choose to make a lump sum donation. Booklets will be sent home for children to record their sponsorships.

Children are encouraged to seek sponsorship from friends and relatives based on how much they read between 11th September and 8th October. They will need to record all their reading during these four weeks in their sponsorship booklet.

Students will be asked to collect their sponsorship money from 9th – 15th October and drop the sponsorship booklet and money into the DBIS library by Friday 20th October.

Book Week Second Hand Book Sale

On Tuesday 12th September, DBIS will host a Second Hand Book Sale to raise money for Bring Me a Book Hong Kong. The Book Sale will take place in the Undercover Area on the Primary Campus from 3.10pm – 4pm.

Each book will cost HK$10.

Bedtime Stories – FS-1 – Y6

The magic of storytelling will come to life at DBIS during Book Week for all EYFS and Primary students. This exciting event will take place on Thursday 14th September at different locations across our school. Children will be invited to wear their pyjamas if they wish and bring their teddies or a blanket. Cookies and hot chocolate will be served. Please note all children will need to be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Please see the timetable below.

Please note Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6 will be required to sign up via a Jotform for these events. The Jotforms will be sent out via SeeSaw closer to the event.
