Dear DBIS Families,
We are excited to announce that DBIS Book Week will take place from Tuesday 22nd April to Friday 25th April 2025. We will have an exciting week planned for the students, with activities including storytelling sessions, quizzes and mystery book deliveries!Â
Please find specific details about events taking place during Book Week below. We look forward to continuing to foster a love of literature and reading at DBIS!Â
Thursday 24th April: Bedtime Stories
The magic of storytelling will come to life at DBIS during Book Week for all EYFS and Primary students. This exciting event will take place on Thursday 24th April in your child’s classroom. Children will be invited to wear their pyjamas and bring their teddies or a blanket if they wish. Cookies will be served whilst the children listen to their favourite stories. Siblings are welcome to join one another in their classrooms.Â
FS-1 & FS-2
Location: In your child’s classroomÂ
Time: 4.20pm – 4.40pm
Families should accompany their children to this event and enjoy hearing the stories alongside them. Siblings are welcome to join one another in their classrooms.Â
Years 1 – 6
Location: In your child’s classrooms
Time: 5pm – 5.30pm
If you have already signed the Year 3–6 Jotform to allow your child to arrive and leave school unaccompanied, they will be dismissed as usual after the stories. All other students must be dropped off and collected by their designated adult. However, we would love parents and families to join the stories and support their child’s love of literature where possible! Siblings are welcome to join one another in their classrooms.Â
Friday 25th April: Dress-Up Day!
On Friday 25th April, all students from FS-1 to Year 6 will be invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. Students are encouraged also to bring the book their character is from into school on Friday to share with their classmates and buddy classes. A reminder that the Primary library is open from 8am – 8.20am and from 3.20pm – 4pm every day should you wish to borrow your favourite book to share.Â
Should you have any further questions regarding Book Week, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.
Yours sincerely,
Bryony Wilson & Gina Clothier
