Celebrating World Book Day

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thursday 3rd of March is World Book Day! As such, DBIS will be celebrating the magic of books and reading throughout the week and invite you to take part.

A slideshow, which you can access HERE, has been created with links to various FREE online books, read-alouds, activities (including creating a potato book character!) and a number of live WBD events featuring top children’s authors. These live events are UK based and take place early evening Hong Kong time, making them perfect opportunities for families to come together over a love of books and reading.

The value of reading for pleasure cannot be underestimated. Research undertaken by the OECD reveals that reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator for success in life, more than family circumstances, educational background, or income. Sharing stories together with your child, for just ten minutes a day, will encourage that love of reading.

We’re looking forward to celebrating World Book Day and hope you, too, will join in the fun with your child.

Happy Reading!
