DBIS Junior Duke Award 2020/21

Dear Parents,

 

Thank you for your interest in the Junior Duke Award.

 

This is an optional award that we are proud to be offering to the Year 3-6 students of DBIS for 2020/21.

 

In the frenetic world we live in, giving children the opportunity to develop core skills needed to flourish in life can be hard. It is for that reason that we feel this award will complement the ‘whole child’ development that we strive for at DBIS.

 

This award gives children the time and space to develop their skills of independence, resilience, inquiry, organisation, and self-motivation through a journey of life skill challenges.

Presented in a series of glossy journals, Year groups 3 – 6 are provided with a series of progressive life challenges including first aid, cookery, swimming, budgeting, fixing punctures, domestic duties, and lots of other creative activities to expose them to the skills needed for the real world. The award allows children to participate in a variety of new experiences and teaches them that it is important to ‘have a go’ and challenges them to learn new and varied skills from an early age. This helps them to develop the resilience they will need throughout their lives whilst rewarding them for their hard work.

The Award has been running in schools across the UK since 2007 and has helped thousands of children aged 6 to 12 to realise their abilities and, for some, to discover new talents and passions  

 

This is the first year that the Junior Duke will be introduced to Asia and DBIS are at the forefront of this. We hope you can join us.
