Diwali Celebrations at DBIS

Dear Parents

On Friday 13th November we will be celebrating Diwali as a whole school. Our celebrations would usually involve a range of activities and opportunities for the students such as henna painting and dance performances however these will not be possible this year due to the restrictions. With this in mind, we would still like to recognise this special occasion for many in our community and therefore invite all students in Early Years, Primary and Secondary to participate in an optional Diwali themed day in which they are welcome to come to school in either traditional Indian dress or wear bright colours. Students who do not wish to participate should wear their school uniform as usual.

Diwali is India’s biggest and most important holiday of the year and is also known as the Festival of Lights. It is a five day celebration that includes food, fireworks, coloured sand and special candles and lamps.

We would like to wish all our families who will be celebrating a very happy Diwali.

With best regards
