Dumpling Making Activity in Chinese Lesson

Dear Year 6 Parents and Guardians,

As we approach the Year of the Dragon, we have an exciting activity planned for our Year 6 students. On Monday, 5th February, during their Mandarin lesson, they will have the opportunity to make dumplings. The shape of dumplings resembles the ancient Chinese currency called ‘yuan bao’, which is believed to symbolize wealth and prosperity. Eating dumplings during these celebrations is a tradition believed to bring good luck and fortune for the coming year.

Below are  the ingredients in the dumplings (purchased from a dumpling shop):

Pork, cabbage, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, sugar

If your child has allergies or prefers to opt out of the activity, please contact their classroom teacher. We will make alternative arrangements for them during that time.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us. We appreciate your support and wish you an early Happy Chinese New Year.

Thank you,

Mandarin Team
