Easter Issue – 23rd March 2024
Dear Year 7 Parents and Guardians,Â
I hope this newsletter finds you well and your Year 7 sons and daughters are excited for a well-deserved Easter holiday. Year 7 students have made huge strides since the Term 1 report, so it has been very pleasing to see those positive learning routines and habits translating into improved academic outcomes in the more recent Term 2 Strength and Targets report.Â
It has been a busy and productive end to this second term with so many of our Year 7s embracing the opportunities available to them through sporting activities such as the FOBISIA U13s trip, theatre productions for the Shrek performance, and community events such as our DBIS International Food Fair . I sincerely hope that this spirit of ‘getting involved’ will progress into Term 3 as we commence our final round of the ECA programme.
Next term will also see the commencement of our Year 6 transition programme, so I will be inviting our Year 7s to support the Year 6 students during their transition and am confident they can provide the guidance, support and mentorship needed to manage this often challenging transition.Â
Music & Drama: Shrek Performing Arts Production
It has been a couple of weeks since the hustle and bustle of the DBIS theatre production, so I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of the Year 7 cast members for their involvement and consistent commitment to rehearsals in the months leading up to the performances.Â
Year 7 Cast Members: Ishy Alvis 7I, Clara Figueiredo Scalabrin 7I, Lucy Ross 7I, Lola McCartan 7I, Victoria Maretic 7D, Manuela Bertalot 7D, Juliet Scott 7B, Zoe Goggins 7B.
A special shout out also needs to go to Mr Preddy, Mr Piggot, Ms Lau and Ms Ciric for their time and efforts spent getting the students ready!Â
U13s FOBISIA Games
Last week, a dedicated group of students from Years 7 and 8 embarked on a journey to the FOBISIA Games at the Pattana Sports Complex, located near Pattaya in Thailand. The students had the opportunity to showcase the results of their months-long dedication and training. While all of the students’ achievements were commendable, I would like to share the special news of our girls’ football team’s triumphant victory in a fiercely contested match against Rugby School, Thailand. If you would like to see more of the action from the FOBISIA games, please access this link, which has photos and memories from the event. Well done to Ms Chambers and all the PE team for getting the students ready for this incredible event.Â
