End of Year Bulletin – Year 11 going into Year 12
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we come to the end of another academic year, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on the accomplishments of our Year 11 students. Whilst it has been fantastic to see school life return to normality, I would like to congratulate Year 11 for their continued resilience up to the end of their IGCSE examinations.Â
Alongside their commitment to their academic examinations, Year 11 have demonstrated leadership skills and humility in the face of setbacks, and have often proven to be great role models for students lower in the school.
In preparation for next academic year, it is important that we start Sixth Form in Year 12 in the best way possible to allow for success in this all-important ‘final chapter’ of Secondary School life.Â
Over the summer break, students are expected to complete transition work for each of their chosen subjects that will:
- Prepare them for the challenging transition between GCSE to A Level;
- Demonstrate they have the commitment and ability required to continue with their chosen subjects.Â
Students will be assessed on this summer work in their first few lessons after the summer break and are expected to demonstrate that they have prepared adequately to start their new courses by completing the assigned transition work.Â
Transition work can be found by CLICKING HERE.
The first day of the new academic year will be on Thursday 17th August. On the first two days, Year 12 will follow a bespoke programme designed to get them used to life in Sixth Form and allow them to bond with their new peers and tutors.Â
Please note: Students should wear sports clothing on the first two days of school, and it would be wise to bring a towel and change of clothes as some activities may involve getting wet!
In preparation for the start of Year 12, students and parents should ensure that they have read thoroughly the Sixth Form Handbook and paid particular attention to the dress code expectations in case any new clothing items need to be purchased during the summer break. (As previously mentioned, dress code is not applicable on the first two days of school as students will be in sports clothing).

GCSE Results
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind the students that they have received personal login details to access their IGCSE results when we return, from the exams team. Please ensure that you have this information to ensure timely access to these on results day.
Finally, as many of you may already know, I will continue to be their Head of Year during Year 12 and Mrs Rebecca Boddington will be the Head of Sixth Form. We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our Year 11 students a restful and enjoyable summer break. We look forward to seeing them back at school in August, ready to continue their academic journey.
Best regards,
Nicholas Moore
Head of Year 11
