EY1 Guided Reading

EY1 Guided Reading

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our EY1 Guided Reading program will begin next week (week beginning 12th October). Your child will have guided reading on the following days (this is also on your child’s class timetable in their diary);

EY1 Guided Reading

 (on this day your child will come home with 1 book, please return it the next day)

Library

(please keep your child’s library book for a week)
EY1GC Tuesday Thursday Wednesday
EY1EM  Wednesday Thursday  Friday
EY1AC Tuesday Thursday Thursday
EY1LB Tuesday Thursday Monday

On your child’s guided reading day they will have read a levelled guided reading book (each child has been assessed by their class teacher) with either their class teacher or educational assistant. They would have read the book multiple times and completed a short activity linked to the text. When they bring this book home your child will be able to confidently read it and will be familiar with the text. Our aim is for your child to be confident and happy reading this book and it is important to celebrate this success with them.  Please return their book the next day and your child’s reading folder needs to come to school everyday.

In addition to their guided reading book your child should have received an RWI book. RWI books will come home either once or twice a week depending on their group. If your child has not received an RWI book yet please let you child’s class teacher know.

Once a week your child will also visit the library and bring home a library book.  This book has been self selected by your child and can  be read and shared with the whole family. Library books can be kept for a week (i.e please return it the following week), once returned a new one can be sent home.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.

Kind regards,

The EY1 Team
